Does installing Tabaa Children or Tabaa Adults erase my data?

No, as long as you install over the cable from a computer: the phone stays as it is, with no factory reset, and apps, photos and chats stay put. The one step is signing out of your accounts during activation and signing back in after. The QR path is for a new phone only, because it starts with a factory reset.
Why is there no factory reset?
Tabaa runs with Device Owner, the highest administrative privilege in Android. With it, the operating system itself suspends the apps that are not allowed, rather than an app watching the screen and trying to close what opened. That is why the block applies on any launcher, for any user on the phone, on Wi-Fi and mobile data alike, with any SIM. The privilege is granted from a computer over the charging cable, following the install steps for Tabaa Children or Tabaa Adults; the full explanation is in the guide what is Device Owner.
Android's one condition is that no accounts are signed in on the phone at the moment the privilege is granted. So you sign out of your accounts during the install and sign back in after, and the list on the installer's screen shows what remains as you go. A sign-out, not a wipe: apps, photos and chats stay in place the whole time.
Prepare two things before you start
First: make sure you remember your account passwords - your Google account above all - and that you can pass two-factor, because you will sign in again after the install. Second: if the phone carries a hidden space - a second space, private space or dual apps - move its contents out first, because Android refuses to activate while it exists, and deleting it permanently erases what is inside; that deletion only ever happens with your approval.
And the computer?
Tabaa Desktop installs on Windows as it is, with no wipe and no provisioning. If the phone is your own, Tabaa Adults is the one for you; if it is a child's, read the parental controls in Egypt guide. For any question during the install, support is on WhatsApp at +201507966165.
أسئلة شائعة
- Does installing need a factory reset?
- No, on any phone: brand new or in daily use with your data on it. The install runs from a computer over the charging cable following the steps on the install page, and all the data stays where it is.
- What happens to the accounts signed in on my phone?
- Android's condition for granting Device Owner is that no accounts are signed in at the moment of the grant, so you sign out of your accounts during the install and sign back in afterwards with the same password. That is a sign-out, not a wipe: apps, photos and chats are untouched. Just make sure you remember your account passwords and can pass two-factor before you start.
- Are WhatsApp and my chats affected?
- No. WhatsApp and its data are never touched during the install, and nothing needs restoring.
- Do I need a backup before installing?
- Not for the install itself, because it erases nothing. One exception: if the phone carries a hidden space (a second space, private space or dual apps), Android refuses to activate while it exists, and deleting it permanently erases what is inside - which only ever happens with the owner's approval, so move its contents out first.
- Will I need to wipe the device for updates later?
- No. Tabaa updates itself on the phone with Device Owner privilege, with no store and no step from you, so every improvement to the protection reaches the device on its own.
- Does my data pass through Tabaa?
- No. Tabaa requests no camera, microphone, messages, contacts or files permission, so no copy of your photos or chats reaches it at any step.
